Sherif Farouk, Chairperson of Egypt Post, has said that they launched a strategic plan to preserve the environment and reduce carbon emissions through several immediate steps, including a project to use electric cars to deliver mail and other postal items.

He added, in a press release on Monday, that two mail trucks were converted to electric, along with a new electric vehicle, to be used in distribution services.

Farouk said that the project aims to convert and modernize the entire mail fleet to electric. This contributes to reducing emissions that cause climate change, and reducing operating costs by more than 70%, at a small investment cost.

This comes within the framework of the country’s drive towards clean energy and reducing carbon emissions.

Farouk added that Egypt Post has implemented many green energy projects, such as post offices, administrative and archaeological buildings that were opened during the last period; in addition to the services that come within the strategy of preserving the environment and reducing emissions.
