1st Advanced Placement school in El-Gouna starts accepting admissions

Students are invited to apply to a world-class school bound by Egyptian identity and  values Manara School announced today the start of receiving applications from prospective eighth grade students, for the academic year 2023/2024, thus offering 60 of the most talented and high-potential students access to a world-class education based on a framework of ethics, academics, and diversity.

The school aims to help students realize their full leadership potential through exceptional expertise in adolescent psychology, education, and character development, provided by highly qualified faculty and staff members from diverse backgrounds, resident on campus and available to students 24/7.

Through the school’s five-year journey until the end of secondary school, students will experience an integrated and comprehensive life experience.

Manara will follow the Advanced Placement (AP) Curriculum, and an independent learning methodology with a transformative approach focused on small classrooms averaging in 15 students, engaged through critical thinking and problem solving skills.

Peter Saliba, Head of Manara School, said, “We are thrilled to launch our admissions process to choose our first sixty students who will be admitted to the Class of 2028.  This group of students have an unprecedented opportunity to shape the future of our school, and together with our faculty, we will bring Manara to life.”

The school will provide students with a unique experience that combines a rigorous academic curriculum with leadership, athletics, travel, and community service programs. Manor also cultivates life skills through our residential program by promoting responsibility, team building and accountability.

Prospective students can apply during the first round of applications through the website, manaraschool.org/en/admissions, until 1 February 2023. The second round of applications will start 16 February 2023 until 1 April 2023.

Saliba added: “Students admitted to the school will be selected according to clear criteria based on academic performance, leadership potential, test scores, and an interview, to ensure non-discrimination and diversity of students, from public, private or international schools, from all Egyptian governorates.”

Through a scholarship program, Manara School aims to offer support to all students who receive admission to the school and provide evidence for financial need.

Manara School was founded by Naguib Samih Sawiris, and is inspired by the philanthropic legacy of Yousriya Loza Sawiris and Onsi Sawiris, in advancing education. The school’s board of trustees includes Omar El Hamamsy, CEO of Orascom Development Holding; Eskandar Tooma, tenured professor of finance with the School of Business at The American University in Cairo; Noura Selim, Executive Director of Sawiris Foundation for Social Development; and Peter Saliba, Head of Manara School.
