Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry issued on Monday a decision appointing Ahmed Abu Zeid as the Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, succeeding Ahmed Hafez, who was appointed as Egypt’s Ambassador to Canada.

Abu Zeid was also appointed as the Director of the Public Diplomacy Department.

The new spokesperson recently returned to Cairo following the end of his mission as the ambassador of Egypt to Canada.

He previously served as the spokesperson for the ministry and an adviser to Egypt’s Embassy in Washington, the Permanent Mission to the UN in New York, and the Consulate-General of Egypt in San Francisco, as well as for more than 10 years in the Office of the Foreign Minister.
