South Korea’s Ambassador in Cairo Hong Jin-Wook met with Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled El-Anany on Monday to exchange views on ways to foster people-to-people exchange and enhance cultural cooperation between the two nations.

Hong said that the relation between Korea and Egypt is witnessing active and tangible progress in various areas beyond the traditional trade and investment centred cooperation.

He also stressed that enhancing people-to-people exchange by fostering tourism and cultural cooperation is very important to promote mutual understanding between the two countries.

For his part, El-Anany said that the Egyptian tourism industry is recovering from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, adding that he fully agrees with Hong’s point of view on the importance of expanding human exchange and that he wishes to see an increase in the number of Korean tourists to Egypt in the future.

The two sides also discussed resuming direct flight between the two countries and the official development assistance allocated for Egyptian cultural heritage.
