Egyptian Commercial Service in Spain participates in 20th IMEX-Madrid International Fair

The Egyptian Commercial Service (ECS) office in the Spanish capital, Madrid, participated in the 20th edition of IMEX-Madrid 2022, which was held from 18 to 22 April, and was devoted to promoting Africa.

Yahya Al-Wathiq Billah, the head of the Egyptian Commercial Service, said that this participation comes within the framework of the Ministry of Trade and Industry’s plan. This plan targets enhancing the penetration of Egyptian exports to various foreign markets, and implementing the directives of Nevine Gamea, Minister of Trade and Industry for commercial offices, to intensify communication with international business associations and organizations, with the aim of attracting more foreign investments in the various productive sectors.

Commercial Counselor Ahmed Nasr, the head of the ESC office in Madrid, said that during the fair, the office held a series of meetings with Spanish companies that wished to invest in Egypt or import from the Egyptian market. These companies worked in the fields of technological industries, the automobile industry, health sector products, chemical products, and new and renewable energy. Water desalination products, in addition to a number of other products

 Nasr added that the commercial office also held a meeting with representatives of the Madrid Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He noted that a visit of Spanish companies to Egypt is expected in June, in coordination with the Spanish Commercial Office in Cairo.

 He explained that a meeting was also held with representatives of the Spanish Chemical Federation to discuss ways of joint cooperation between Egypt and the Federation and the Spanish companies, members of the Federation. He pointed out that a meeting was also organized with the Federation of Spanish Companies in Galicia, as a number of proposals related to investment cooperation between the two countries were discussed.

IMEX is one of the most important international fairs of foreign trade and business in Spain. This year’s session included a comprehensive program aimed at reviewing the current challenges facing the export sector with a focus on sustainable development goals in addition to enhancing the competitiveness of Spanish small and medium enterprises, and pushing them towards Foreign markets by holding interviews with a number of agencies working in the field of export in addition to representatives of embassies and commercial offices accredited within Spain.
