Egypt, Rwanda discuss African, international issues

Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met on Wednesday with his Rwandan counterpart Vincent Berota during the former’s current visit to the Rwandan capital Kigali.

The two ministers exchanged views regarding issues of common interest and agreed to further strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

Shoukry arrived on Tuesday in Kigali to participate in laying the foundation stone for the Magdi Yacoub – Rwanda / Egypt Heart Center, as well as to meet with a number of Rwandan officials.

Ambassador Ahmed Hafez, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is financing the purchase, supply, and installation of all the equipment of the first phase of the project through its agency for partnership for development.

The ceremony was attended by high-level figures, including First Lady of Rwanda Janet Kagame and renowned Egyptian doctor Magdi Yacoub.
