The two Italian Exhibition Group (IEG) expos, Ecomondo and Key Energy, have seen significant turnout at the end of its first week.
The Ecomondo and Key Energy expos are taking place virtually from 3 to 15 November 2020. The IEG has dubbed the event a ‘double digital green week’.
A total of 31,200 participants took part in over 500 hours of seminars and workshops, reflecting a broadly positive reaction and interest among industry and trade members in the green economy sectors.
Ecomondo is dedicated to the circular economy and green technologies while Key Energy to renewable energies and energy efficiency.
The virtual expos replaced the traditional ones due to the repercussions of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Moreover, 400 companies decided to use the IEG’s digital platform to present their virtual platforms, organise conversations, or schedule business meetings in the available slots.
The platform allows participants to explore the latest technological innovations, download technical specifications, watch presentation videos, as well as request information about services and products.
It is also possible to discover several select, dedicated startups which are ready to provide added value to corporate innovation. The latter concept has seen an increased need to respond quickly to the global challenges of climate, food, the environment, and quality of life.
Alessandra Astolfi, Group Brand Manager of the Green and Technology Division at IEG, said that conclusions can be drawn on the back of what has been seen at the Ecomondo and the Key Energy digital edition.
This is particularly since the scientific community, stakeholders, and institutional members have expressed great satisfaction with the four-day schedule of conferences and workshops that have been held.
Astolfi said, “We moved it to the digital platform, which covers the issues that are currently at the core of the agendas of all governments, business, finance, and public administration.”
There has also been a massive response on behalf of industry sectors, business members, and professionals, with massive inclusive digital participation.
She added, “We have strengthened interaction with public decision-makers, and a set of proposals have been submitted by public countries for the green economy, which ranged from technological innovations to produce green hydrogen and technology incentives to recycle plastic waste, and to enhance wind energy.”
In the second week, which will take place from 9 to 15 November, there are approximately 140 meticulously prepared meetings with stakeholders from the industrial, financial, institutional and academic worlds.
Among the topics covered are: technological frontiers and regulatory updates on the waste cycle; and the role of digital technology in monitoring the carbon footprint of purification plants.
