A state of dissatisfaction emerged within the five-member normalisation committee for the Egyptian Football Association (EFA), headed by Amr El-Ganainy, after Sports and Youth Minister Ashraf Sobhy announced that a crisis committee will be formed to manage football files in the coming period.

A source in the EFA said the committee works for the best of the Egyptian football and are moving in the right direction. The committee had nothing to do with the clashes occurred following the Egypt Super Cup held in the UAE, he added, noting that the situation was fuelled by some players and members of the technical staffs of both teams, and they were punished accordingly.

The source said the EFA committee plans to apply the video assistant referee system in Egypt and allow fans to attend matches in stadiums, along with organising strong friendlies for the national team.

He elaborated that the minister’s announcement came in an appropriate time since they only took charge of the EFA for a short period until the election is held after Tokyo 2020.

In another context, national football team coach Hossam El Badry announced the squad that will enter the training camp in March to play Togo in the third and fourth rounds of the Africa Cup of Nations 2021 qualifiers.
