2% decline in mobile subscribers in Q1 2018

The number of mobile subscribers decreased during the first quarter (Q1) of this year by 2.1% year-over-year. According to a report by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, the number of mobile users fell from 100 million last year to 99.1 million in Q1 this year.

According to the report, the penetration of mobiles has declined by 2.8% from 111.6% in Q1 2017 to 108.8% this year.

Meanwhile, landline users increased by 9.6% in the same period.

The number of fixed line users increased from 6.2 million in 2017 to 7.2 million in Q1 2018, up by 1 million users.

The number of mobile internet users increased from 28.6 million in Q1 2017 to 32.7 million at the end of March 2018.

Moreover, USB modem users fell from 3.28 million in 2017 to 3.26 million this year.

Finally, high-speed ADSL internet users increased by 5% from 4.4 million to 5.2 million at the end of March 2018.
