Tamer ElGamal, general manager of Nokia Egypt, said that during 2017, the company adopted a strategy to provide the most up-to-date technology to users, including in screens and ease of use, along with better cameras and large batteries.
On the sidelines of Nokia’s launching ceremony for a number of new products, ElGamal said that the company sold about 79m devices worldwide through 270,000 points of sale across 80 countries. He added that the company injected investments of over $100m to realise profits of $200m in 2017, noting that Nokia has 600,000 partners globally.
ElGamal said that Nokia’s partnership with Raya in Egypt has boosted the companies’ outlets to 2,000 in the country, with an eye on a larger leap.
Nokia plans to be one of the top five smartphone makers in the world within five years, after adopting the Android operating systems in its smartphones two years ago when HMD acquired it.
HMD, the developer of Nokia phones, announced the arrival of the Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 6.1, Nokia 1, and Nokia 8110 4G models to Egypt. The devices will be available at retail stores this month.
The phone maker earlier this year announced the launch of those phones during the 2018 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The new smartphones offer the superlative and powerful craftsmanship expected in Nokia phones, and provide pure, smart, and secure Android experiences to keep pace with the latest updates.
