A document entitled the “Declaration of Cairo”, reinforcing the strategic alliance between Egypt and Saudi Arabia, was signed Thursday between Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and Saudi Defence Minister Prince Mohamed Salman Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Seoud.

The declaration aims at enhancing mutual cooperation between the two countries on six different levels, notably in the military, investment, trade, politics, culture and media sectors. Projects in the energy and transportation sectors were listed amongst the potential areas of business with growth, according to the Egyptian presidency.

The two leaders also discussed the Saudi-Egyptian electrical interconnection project, according to a memorandum of understanding, where each party is to own and bear the project within its territory. The “Declaration of Cairo” also outlined the employment of joint naval cross-borders forces.
