The Heliopolis prosecution office ordered on Sunday the detainment of former presidential chief of staff, Mohamed Refa’a El Tahtawi and his deputy Assad El Sheikha for 15 days to face questioning over presidential palace clashes last December, Aswat Masriya has reported.

El Tahtawi and El Sheikha have been imprisoned with former president Mohamed Morsi since his ouster on 3 July, with other nine people from Morsi’s presidential team.

The presidential palace clashes in December occurred when supporters of the then-president destroyed tents of opposition groups, who were protesting Morsi’s controversial constitutional declaration.
