Tourism receipts exceed $9.2 bln

Egypt’s tourism receipts exceeded $9.2 billion in the first nine moths of 2010, Al-Masry Al-Youm reported based on figures from Egypt’s tourism ministry.

Tourism receipts grew 15.8 percent year-on-year in during that period, up from $8 billion. The number of tourists increased to 1056 million tourists in 9M2010, with Russia ranking the first, the UK ranking the second and the US ranking the 10th on the list of tourists coming to Egypt.

In its daily report, Beltone Financial said, “We expect 2011 to continue to witness strong growth in Egypt’s tourism receipts as the global economy is gradually improving.

“Certain incidents in Egypt at the end of 2010 and early 2011 have not affected Egypt’s tourism industry, and we generally do not expect that one off unfortunate events to impact negatively Egypt’s tourism industry in 2011.”
