CAIRO: Algerian starlet Amir Sayoud hopes to return to Ahly after his loan spell at Kuwait s Arabi finishes by the end of the season.

The highly-rated playmaker has been poised to quit Ahly in the wake of the tense rivalry that escalated between his nation Algeria and Egypt in last year s World Cup qualifying campaign.

After Ahly had eventually decided to hand him a short-term move, Sayoud dazzled in Kuwait, however, he can t wait to make his return to Cairo.

Unfortunately I had to pay for the problems that occurred lately between Egypt and Algeria, but I really hope to return to Ahly, the 19-year-old said in an interview with CNN.

It is up to the Ahly board to decide on my future, but I really hope to be back.

I miss the atmosphere in Cairo. Even though I didn’t play much, but I believe the Egyptian league is more competitive. Egyptian football is currently at its best.

Teammates support

Sayoud paid tribute to his Ahly teammates as he dismissed that his nationality had anything to do with his slow start in Egypt.

Being Algerian never prevented me from getting a chance with Ahly, he added.

Of course it was difficult for me after the Algeria-Egypt games, but the Ahly board helped and were keen protect me from any potential problem.

The players have also shown great support for me. I want to thank them all especially Mohamed Abou-Trika and Wael Gomaa, who helped me overcome the pressure.
