CAIRO: Ahly s attempts to land Stephen Worgu from Merreikh were dented after they failed to agree personal terms of a contract for the Nigerian striker, his agent said.

Earlier this week, Ahly said they are close to signing the 20-year-old from Merreikh, shortly after the Sudanese club had revealed that an “agreement was reached .

However, it seems that the Egyptian champions cannot meet the demands of the former Enyimba hitman, who is eager to leave Sudan.

Ahly agreed with Merreikh on a one-and-a-half-year loan deal for Worgu, but they couldn’t agree terms with the player, agent Ahmed Abbas told FilGoal.com.

Worgu is not willing to take a pay cut to join Ahly.

Meanwhile, Abbas revealed that Zamalek have shown interest in the services of the promising striker.

I received a call from a Zamalek official enquiring about Worgu s contract demands. He said the club will decide soon on the issue, the Egyptian agent said.

Worgu has until Friday night to make a move as the transfer deadline in Sudan is on Jan. 15.

The 2008 CAF Champions League top scorer has been struggling to adapt to life in Sudan since joining from Enyimba two seasons ago.
