Ahmed Mido Hossam scored twice and dished out an assist to lead Tottenham Hotspur to achieve a thrashing 5-0 victory over Milton Keynes Dons in the Carling Cup on Wednesday.

Jermaine Defoe also netted a brace and Irish international Robbie Keane scored to help Tottenham advance to the next phase.

Spurs will face Port Vale in the Carling Cup fourth round.

The Egyptian international striker, who scored the winning goal against West Ham on Sunday, opened the score in the 36th minute when he connected with Reto Ziegler s cross at the near post to fire the ball home.

Mido turned provider just before the break after his brilliant pass released Defoe, who sent the ball over Dons keeper Adolfo Baines.

Defoe added the third six minutes after re-start as he latched onto Tom Huddlestone s chip pass to poke home from close range.

Former Marseille and Roma striker Mido deepened Dons misery in the 59th minute when he scored from the rebound after Baines blocked Defoe s initial shot before Keane completed the rout in stoppage time.
