The Saudi and Egyptian Rowing Federations have signed a memorandum of cooperation aimed at strengthening joint efforts in youth and sports, while expanding cooperation in rowing to support athlete development and enhance the technical and organisational programmes of both sides.

The Saudi Rowing Federation was represented at the signing by its Chairman, Ali bin Hussein Ali Reda, while the Egyptian Rowing Federation was represented by its President, Major General Sherif El-Qamati. The signing ceremony took place at the headquarters of the Saudi Olympic Committee in Riyadh.

The memorandum builds on the fraternal relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Arab Republic of Egypt and supports cooperation in youth and sports on the basis of reciprocity and in accordance with available resources and the laws and regulations in force in both countries.

Areas of cooperation include exploring the organisation of joint training camps and friendly competitions, including preparatory camps for major championships and trial races, with the aim of enhancing the competitive experience of athletes from both countries.

The memorandum also provides for reciprocal participation by athletes and teams in championships and events organised by either side, in accordance with approved regulations and the required organisational approvals.

At the institutional development level, the memorandum provides for the exchange of knowledge and expertise in governance and federation structures, club development, athlete development pathways, the organisation of national competitions, and the qualification of referees and technical officials, in addition to administrative and operational matters.

Cooperation will also extend to supporting the organisation of events and competitions through the exchange of expertise and qualified personnel, as well as benefiting from joint training camps and championships to enhance the practical experience of professionals working in rowing.

The agreement also covers awareness initiatives related to sustainability and health among rowing athletes, further broadening cooperation beyond competition and athlete performance to include wider aspects of the sport’s development.
