Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas agreed to intensify political coordination between Egypt and the Palestinian Authority, as Cairo continues efforts to implement an agreement aimed at ending the Gaza war and rejects any displacement of Palestinians.
The Egyptian presidency said Al-Sisi told Abbas that Cairo, working with mediators, would continue efforts to implement the agreement reached at the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit in October 2025.
Al-Sisi called on all parties to comply with the agreement, including by halting escalation, ensuring the flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza, and creating conditions for early recovery and reconstruction.
He reiterated Egypt’s rejection of any displacement of Palestinians or attempts to liquidate the Palestinian cause, while reaffirming Cairo’s support for the Palestinian Authority and efforts to build consensus among Palestinian factions.
Al-Sisi said the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is necessary to achieve lasting peace and regional stability.
Abbas briefed Al-Sisi on developments in the Palestinian territories, including conditions in the West Bank, which he attributed to Israeli policies there, according to the Egyptian presidency.
The two leaders agreed to maintain consultations and strengthen political coordination at all levels on developments in the Palestinian territories and the wider region.
