Chinese company Jieya Egypt is investing $67 million to establish an integrated manufacturing complex for disposable hygiene products in the Sokhna Integrated Zone, part of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE).
The project will cover 160,000 square metres and is expected to generate around 450 direct jobs, according to an infographic published by Egypt’s Cabinet Media Center.
Once operational, the facility is projected to reach an annual production capacity of 8.1 billion units of single-use hygiene products, strengthening Egypt’s domestic manufacturing capabilities in the sector.
The complex will be developed within the new expansion area of TEDA Egypt, with production scheduled to begin within two years.
The investment reflects growing economic and industrial cooperation between Egypt and China, while highlighting SCZONE’s efforts to attract specialised foreign investments and expand its industrial base.
The project is also aligned with Egypt’s strategy to localise value-added industries, promote technology transfer and strengthen integrated supply chains across priority industrial sectors.
By increasing local production of hygiene products and consumables, the new complex is expected to support import substitution, create employment opportunities and enhance Egypt’s potential as a regional manufacturing and export hub.
