Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and his Iraqi and Kuwaiti counterparts stressed the urgent need to de-escalate tensions and avoid widening the regional conflict during separate phone calls on Sunday.
In discussions with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the diplomats emphasised the importance of intensifying regional and international efforts to support political and diplomatic solutions, aiming to restore regional security and stability.
During his call with Hussein, Abdelatty addressed developments in the Palestinian territories, highlighting the importance of completing the implementation of the first phase of the U.S. President’s plan. This step is necessary to ensure full access for humanitarian aid and to prepare the conditions for transitioning to subsequent phases, according to statements released by the Egyptian foreign ministry.
The Egyptian and Iraqi ministers also discussed enhancing bilateral relations, building on current momentum to expand cooperation across various fields, while maintaining consultation on issues of mutual interest.
In the exchange with Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the ministers reviewed rapid developments in the region. Both affirmed the necessity of continued coordination and consultation between Egypt and Kuwait in the coming period to support all efforts aimed at containing tensions.
