More than 3,550 trainees have graduated from free vocational programmes under a partnership between the Egyptian Ministry of Labor and the Italian Salesian Institute “Don Bosco,” with both parties planning to expand cooperation to meet local and international labour market demands.
Minister of Labor Hassan Radad met with an institute delegation to discuss the continuation of the free training programmes and the development of ministry-affiliated training centres. The talks aimed to align vocational training with international standards to provide decent job opportunities for youth domestically and abroad.
During the meeting, officials reviewed the joint cooperation results, noting that 2,750 trainees have graduated at the Cairo branch out of a targeted 3,321. The trainees completed programmes across 23 professions, English and Italian language courses, and life skills training, earning internationally standardised certificates.
An additional 800 trainees benefited from the first phase of the grant at the institute’s Alexandria branch, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 3,550 out of an overall target of 4,121 trainees.
Radad affirmed the ministry’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with local and international partners possessing vocational training expertise. He noted the initiative implements directives from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to invest in human resources and prepare qualified technical cadres in line with the state’s vision.
The two sides also coordinated preparations for an upcoming employment fair and graduation ceremony for the grant beneficiaries. The fair will feature several participating companies to provide direct employment opportunities for the graduates.
Additionally, the meeting covered arrangements for the upcoming 100th-anniversary celebration of the Don Bosco Institute in Cairo, marking its history in preparing technical cadres and cooperating with state institutions.
The institute’s delegation included Don Thomas John Leo, Regional Deputy for Salesians of Don Bosco in the Middle East, and Engineer Mina Nasr, General Coordinator for Courses at Don Bosco Cairo. The Ministry of Labor was represented by Yasmine Mamdouh, Head of the Central Administration for Vocational Training, and Mohamed El-Gendy, Director General of the General Administration for Licensing Private Vocational Training Centers.
