Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi on Wednesday oversaw the swearing-in of a deputy prime minister, several ministers and deputy ministers following a cabinet reshuffle, according to a presidential statement.
The reshuffle included the appointment of Hussein Eissa as Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs; Ashraf Mansour as Minister of Defence and Military Production; Khaled Abdel Ghaffar as Minister of Health; Kamel Al-Wazir as Minister of Transport; Manal Awad as Minister of Local Development and Environment; and Badr Abdelatty as Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Expatriates.
Other appointments included Randa El-Menshawy as Minister of Housing; Raafat Hindi as Minister of Communications; Abdelaziz Konsowa as Minister of Higher Education; Mohamed Farid as Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade; and Diaa Rashwan as Minister of State for Information.
The presidency said a presidential decree also abolished the Ministry of Public Business Sector, with the prime minister tasked with issuing the necessary implementing decisions.
Following the ceremony, Al-Sisi met with the newly appointed officials, stressing the need to enhance institutional efficiency, strengthen merit-based performance standards, and invest in the development of human capital.
He also underlined the role of media in raising public awareness, countering misinformation, and supporting reform efforts in the public interest.
On Tuesday, Egypt’s House of Representatives approved the cabinet overhaul during an emergency session convened after receiving a communication from President Al-Sisi. The changes included the reinstatement of the Ministry of Information and the appointment of 14 new ministers across key portfolios, marking significant structural adjustments to the government.
