Egypt to upgrade 100 ambulance points, establishing 19 on main roads

Egypt’s Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed announced, on Tuesday, the upgrade of 100 ambulance points on main roads nationwide, and the establishment of 19 new ambulance points across the country.

 

The announcement came as part of her ministry’s plan to develop Egypt’s ambulance system, in conjunction with the boom in the network of new roads and axes in the country.

 

Zayed said that all ambulance points are equipped with the latest wireless communication devices, to ensure quick and easy communication with reports submitted by citizens.

 

The minister added that the number of daily reports received by the Egyptian Ambulance Authority exceeds 13,000 calls, which are made through the emergency service hotline, 123.

 

Meanwhile, the Egyptian Ambulance Authority organised 210 specialised training courses for ambulance service providers, in addition to 210 specialised training courses for drivers. The courses were provided as part of the upgrade to medical and ambulance services provided to citizens, and to achieve the highest efficiency and speed, according to international standards, in responding to citizens’ complaints.

 

For his part, Mohamed Gad, head of the Egyptian Ambulance Authority, said that the authority is working with 11 electronic applications, which follow up on vehicles, and record reports, vehicle fleet data, and malfunctions.

 

He also affirmed the continuation of upgrading and modernisation work in the authority in line with the state’s plan and Egypt Vision 2030.
