Mohamed Al-Sarraj wins 2016 IMET Squash Open

Jordanian squash player Mohamed Al-Sarraj won the 2016 IMET Squash Open on 18 December in a final against Hungarian Farkas Balázs. The competition was held in Bratislava, Slovakia.

It was an easy win for Al-Sarraj, as he defeated Balázs by 3-0 (11-4/11-3/11-7).

Al-Sarraj qualified to the finals after he defeated Dutch Piëdro Schweertman, by 3-2 (11-13/11-8/10-12/11-9/12-10), at the semifinals.

At the quarterfinals, he beat England’s Mark Fuller by 3-1 (11-7/10-12/11-7/11-7)

Prior to the quarterfinals, Al-Sarraj beat England’s Miles Jenkins by 3-0 (11-6/11-7/11-8).

The first round was a bright opening for Al-Sarraj, as he won against Czech Daniel Mekbib  with a score of 3-0 (11-9/11-7/11-9).

Egypt’s Ismail Hafez had also participated in the championship; however, he exited the tournament in the first round, after losing to Scotland’s Sam Ellias by 3-1 (11-6/7-11/12-10/11-4).
