Salah Gomaa, Minister of State for Military Production, held talks with Essam El-Naggar, Chairperson of the General Organisation for Export and Import Control (GOEIC), to explore avenues for enhanced joint co-operation.
During the meeting, the minister reviewed the advanced technical and technological capabilities of laboratories affiliated with the Ministry, including those at the Scientific and Technological Excellence Centre and the training sector. He noted that these facilities are equipped to conduct a wide range of product testing in accordance with international standards and specifications.
In line with directives to maximise the utilisation of national resources and support the domestic economy, Gomaa underscored the importance of leveraging GOEIC’s comprehensive databases. Access to such data, he explained, would enable the Ministry of Military Production to identify key imported goods and assess their potential for local manufacturing within its affiliated companies, an approach aimed at reducing the import bill and easing pressure on foreign currency reserves.

For his part, El-Naggar highlighted GOEIC’s ongoing efforts to upgrade its databases and deploy advanced analytical tools to improve the efficiency and accuracy of trade-related data. These developments, he said, are designed to support informed decision-making in import and export activities.
He also expressed GOEIC’s commitment to deepening co-operation with the Ministry of Military Production in support of broader industrial and economic development goals. El-Naggar commended the laboratory and technological capabilities of the Ministry’s affiliated entities, noting their role in ensuring compliance with standard specifications and enhancing the quality and competitiveness of Egyptian-made products.
