The Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality (EOS), affiliated with Egypt’s Ministry of Industry, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tabseer to enhance regional cooperation in conformity assessment, training and environmental sustainability services.

EOS Chairperson Khaled Soufi said the agreement is in line with the Ministry’s strategy to deepen Arab partnerships in the fields of quality infrastructure and standardisation. He underlined the importance of closer coordination among standards and conformity assessment bodies across the region, alongside stronger engagement with the private sector to facilitate trade flows and enhance product competitiveness in regional and international markets.

Soufi added that EOS is steadily advancing towards becoming a regional centre of excellence in standardisation and conformity assessment. He pointed to the organisation’s expanding focus on sustainability-related services, including carbon and water footprint measurement, environmental product declarations (EPDs) and life cycle assessment (LCA). These efforts, he noted, are designed to support Egypt’s transition towards a green economy and to improve the global market access of Egyptian exports.

For his part, Mansour AlQahtani, CEO of Tabseer, described the partnership as a strategic step towards strengthening technical integration and the exchange of expertise in inspection, conformity assessment and sustainability solutions. He said Tabseer aims to broaden its regional footprint through institutional partnerships that contribute to industrial development and assist companies in meeting technical and regulatory requirements across different markets.

Under the MoU, the two sides will cooperate in issuing product conformity certificates in accordance with Saudi Arabia’s SABER system, as well as procedures related to obtaining the Saudi Quality Mark. The agreement also provides for joint training programmes, participation in local and international events, and qualification services for companies seeking carbon and water footprint certifications.

In addition, the partnership includes awareness initiatives aimed at supporting small and medium-sized enterprises in complying with quality standards and enhancing their competitiveness, thereby contributing to stronger regional integration in quality infrastructure and sustainable industrial development.
