The U.S. Embassy in Cairo has partnered with College Board to launch a specialised college admissions training programme for more than 50 Egyptian high school counsellors. The initiative aims to enhance advising capabilities, broaden counsellors’ understanding of international admissions systems and the SAT, and better prepare students for global higher education opportunities.
U.S. Embassy Cultural Attaché Mary-Katherine Ream underscored the programme’s significance for bilateral educational ties, stating: “This training reflects the United States’ strong commitment to expanding access to high-quality education opportunities for Egyptian students and strengthening educational partnerships between the United States and Egypt. The return of the SAT to Egypt in June 2025 helped open doors for talented students and reinforced the global reputation of U.S. education as a pathway to opportunity and innovation.”
The Cairo-based training supports the continued expansion of SAT testing in Egypt, while raising awareness of U.S. college readiness standards and internationally recognised assessment systems. It also builds on sustained engagement between the Embassy’s Public Diplomacy Section and Egypt’s Ministry of Education and Technical Education, efforts that facilitated the return of digital SAT testing to Egypt in June 2025.

Recognised by universities across the United States and by many institutions worldwide, the SAT is a globally trusted academic credential designed to assess students’ preparedness for college-level study. The agreement between College Board and Egypt’s Ministry of Education and Technical Education restored an important pathway for Egyptian students seeking to pursue higher education in the United States. It also supports the expansion of a leading U.S. educational organisation into a market of more than 10 million university-aged individuals.
The initiative reflects the broader, long-term commitment of both countries to strengthening educational cooperation. By supporting American educational organisations expanding their presence in Egypt and enhancing institutional collaboration, the programme aims to deliver lasting benefits for students, educators and higher education institutions in both nations.
Founded in the United States, College Board is a mission-driven, not-for-profit organisation serving millions of students worldwide through programmes such as the SAT, Advanced Placement (AP) and BigFuture, working to expand access to higher education and strengthen college readiness on a global scale.
