CDIS Conference to host ITU Arab Regional Office meeting on 16-18 May

The Egypt Cybersecurity and Defence Intelligence Systems (CDIS) Conference and Expo has announced that it will host the periodic meeting of the ITU Arab Regional Office on the sidelines of the former event that will last for three days from 16 to 18 May 2023.

The first-of-its-kind conference and exhibition will be held under the auspices of the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, with the support of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Electricity, the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade, the Suez Canal Authority, the Supreme Council for Cybersecurity, the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, the National Authority for Administration and Investment, the National Center for Computer and Network Emergency Preparedness, the General Assembly of the Computer Emergency Response Team at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Helwan University and Port Said University, with the participation of a high-level delegation from the Egyptian Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Interior.

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is the United Nations specialized agency for information and communication technologies (ICTs) responsible for setting the technical standards that ensure seamless connectivity between networks and technologies and connects all people in the world – wherever they are and whatever means are available to them.

It is worth noting that the ITU Regional Office for the Arab States region is constantly working to provide support to stakeholders in the sector and key partners from 22 Member States, ITU Sector Members, and associates across the Arab States region.

The office strives to promote an enabling environment conducive to the development of information and communication technology and the advancement of digital development, taking into account regional and national priorities in the Arab world to achieve digital transformation and implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the Arab region.

For his part, Mohamed El-Saedy, Managing Director and CEO of TriTech for Advanced Technology and Solutions, which heads the consortium of companies organizing the CDIS-EGYPT Egypt Conference and Exhibition for Cybersecurity and Information Intelligence Systems, stated: “We are proud that the International Telecommunication Union chose the CDIS Conference and Exhibition to host the periodic meeting of the regional group for the Arab region in the Union, which confirms Egypt’s important position in the field of cybersecurity and information intelligence systems, as the exhibition provides a unique opportunity that brings together industry experts and decision-makers under one roof, to discuss challenges and opportunities in the field of cybersecurity and information intelligence systems, and we also seek to enhance strategic cooperation between regional players. It will also provide an opportunity for participants to network, learn and explore the latest developments in the industry.

The CDIS conference is the first event of its kind in Egypt to shed light on the current situation and the future of cybersecurity locally and internationally, and to discuss developments in the sector in Egypt, the Middle East, North Africa and the world, in support of the strategic direction of digital transformation in the Egyptian state and within the framework of The interest of the Egyptian state in the file of cybersecurity and information security. The CDIS Conference and Exhibition also targets all those interested in the cybersecurity sector, starting with students and recent graduates interested in specializing in this field, emerging companies in the field of technology, cybersecurity and intelligence experts, information security managers, heads of information departments, senior security officers and senior technicians. In addition to pioneers in the cybersecurity and intelligence industry, government officials and decision makers, in addition to launching a hackathon for entrepreneurship under the auspices of Telecom Egypt (WE), which aims to innovate advanced technological solutions aimed at developing the cybersecurity industry in Egypt and the Arab world and raising awareness of its importance.
