The Arab League has condemned in the strongest terms the statements of Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich who denied historical rights of the Palestinian people and the existence of Jordan.

Assistant Secretary-General for Palestine Affairs and the Occupied Arab Territories at the Arab League, Said Abu Ali, said in a statement on Tuesday that Samotrich’s recent statements in Paris revealed the truth of the expansionist and racist thought, policies, and colonial schemes of the Israeli government.

“This statement confirms intentions and ambitions and the extent of hatred and extremism that have escalated and led to a deterioration of the situation and a comprehensive explosion in the region,” he said.

The Assistant Secretary-General added that these unfortunate statements of the Fascist Minister and other Israeli ministers and officials, which represent the racist and terrorist colonial nature, will not diminish or impair the existence and sovereignty of Jordan or the existence and rights of the Palestinian people and their ingrained identity in the land of their homeland.

Abu Ali also warned against these statements, which represent a serious threat to peace and security in the region and the world, as well as a flagrant challenge to the will of the international community, its documents, laws, and customs.

“It includes a repudiation of recent regional and international efforts to reduce escalation and deterioration and to push for the revival of the peace process,” he added.

Abu Ali stressed the need to be alert to the seriousness of these Israeli policies and the importance of facing them with firm international positions and measures in support of the rights of the Palestinian people and their embodiment on the ground and the requirements to achieve the desired peace in the region by enforcing the rules of law and resolutions of international legitimacy.

For its part, Egypt stressed its complete rejection of the statements made by Smotrich, minister of Finance in the Israeli government.

Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, described these statements as irresponsible and inflammatory, and carry racist gestures that deny the facts of history and geography, and inflame feelings of anger and resentment among the masses of the Palestinian people, but also the peoples of the free world and people of conscience around the world.

He considered that such statements undermine the efforts aimed at achieving calm between the Palestinian and Israeli sides, as we approach the holy month of Ramadan, which coincides this year with Christian and Jewish holidays, all of which are holidays that establish the meaning of tolerance, peace and respect for others.

In the same context, The Jordanian Foreign Ministry condemned the inflammatory statements made by the extremist Israeli minister towards the Palestinian people and their right to exist and their historical rights in their sovereign independent state on Palestinian national soil.

In a statement, the ministry said that the Israeli ambassador to Amman was informed of the need for his government to take a clear and frank stand regarding these extremist and inflammatory statements.
