The Commercial International Bank (CIB), Egypt’s leading private sector bank, has been included in the 2023 Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI) for the fifth year in a row. This achievement is an appreciation to the Bank’s efforts in providing a safe workplace that honors diversity, equality and inclusion, which in turn promotes individual and collective employee development and improves communication.
The Bloomberg GEI is a global modified market capitalization-weighted index that collects gender-related social metrics and data performance from publicly held companies that are committed to transparency in gender-related reporting and in implementing gender equality in their workplaces.
“We are extremely proud of this achievement, which highlights our continuous efforts in implementing gender equality principles in the workplace and our surrounding communities,” said Hussein Abaza, CEO and Managing Director of CIB Egypt. “The Bank is committed to improving its policies by providing equal pay and opportunity to both men and women and enforcing anti-discrimination policies, which creates a safe and inclusive work environment that can attract talents and foster innovation.”
Peter Grauer, Chairperson of Bloomberg, said: “CIB’s dedication to issuing gender-related reports on a yearly basis reflects its commitment to fairness and equality among employees and in its policies and activities.”
“The Bloomberg GEI’s strong reporting framework helps companies measure their commitment to gender equality and their ability to make a positive impact on their surrounding communities,” he added.
CIB is one of 485 companies across 45 countries and regions to join the 2023 index, underscoring its commitment to transparent gender-related reporting through the standards of the index.
