Orange Egypt announced the results of the local competition for startups “Orange Social Venture” in its local edition for the year 2022. Three winning Egyptian teams of innovative entrepreneurs were selected to receive support for their technology projects during the events of the competition to be held in South Africa to compete for international awards totaling €50,000.

The three winning teams in the local competition were announced during a ceremony hosted by Orange Egypt at its headquarters, with the participation of a jury that comprises experts specialized in the fields of community entrepreneurship, in the presence of Yasser Shaker, CEO and Managing Director of Orange Egypt.

Shaker was keen to participate in the events of the competition to highlight the importance of initiatives to explore and empower promising Egyptian talents in the technology sector and congratulate the winners, as well as support and encourage them and the other teams that did not get the chance to win.

The three winning teams were qualified for creating three promising projects. The first, named Zammit, is a commercial enabler that helps merchants set up offline storage systems, in addition to e-commerce websites, providing all the necessary integrations and human support to connect them with all enablers and facilitate their digital transformation. The second project is Foorera, a data-driven application that uses technology to enable car owners to earn extra income on the go daily by connecting them with other passengers to share their daily trips to work, university or even while traveling.

The third team, Fashion Incubator ME, created an application that provides a one-stop shop for fashion entrepreneurs to help them launch their brands. The application also helps designers access services to create and grow their projects, whether through consulting sessions, feasibility studies, and consultancy in design, marketing, manufacturing and environmentally friendly packaging.

The qualified teams will receive all means of support to help them compete strongly at an international level, with the first prize amounting to €25,000, the second €15,000, and the third €10,000.

Maha Nagy, Executive Vice President of Orange Egypt for the Public Relations, Media and Corporate Communications Sector, said that the event is a real catalyst for encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship and allows Egypt to obtain the benefits it deserves from technological innovation. The event also emphasizes the role that Orange plays in promoting positive entrepreneurship among Egyptian youth.
