Soha Gendi takes over Ministry of Emigration

Soha Samir Gendi was appointed as Minister of State for Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates’ Affairs, as part of the cabinet reshuffle approved by the House of Representatives on Saturday.

Gendi was the first woman to serve as Egypt’s ambassador to Ireland from 2015 to 2019.

She was the deputy permanent representative of the Permanent Mission of Egypt to the United Nations in New York in 2010.

She represented 135 developing countries in the negotiations between UN member states, women’s groups, and civil society, to create the UN Women in 2010.

She also served as Egyptian ambassador to Germany from 1992 to 1996, and in Romania from 1999 to 2003.
