Fierce competition between Egyptian and other Arab series in Ramadan

Within a few days, the blessed month of Ramadan will come upon us, and TV drama makers in the Arab world are racing to complete their works. The coming period will witness a strong competition. However, this year, the Egyptian drama is regaining its high position, which it has maintained for more than 50 years, despite the COVID-19 crisis. The number of TV series decreased during last Ramadan. The state, producers, critics, and experts encouraged TV stars and directors to recover from the pandemic crisis. That is why the upcoming Ramadan 2022 season will be significantly more diverse compared to the last season. This diversity stems from the scriptwriters’ reliance on literature in their works.

Thus, the drama is witnessing a heated competition between the stars of the Arab world to win the largest share of viewership on television, with its terrestrial and satellite channels. Through the following lines, we will review together, the Arab TV series that will be released in Ramadan.


The Choice (Alekhtyar) season 3:

 The events of the work revolve around the efforts made by the Egyptian police to preserve the homeland from the enemies who are trying to destroy the Egyptian state. The series stars Karim Abdel Aziz, Ahmed Ezz, Ahmed El-Sakka, Yasser Jalal, Amr El-Qadi, and a number of guests of honor, directed by Peter Mimi, and written by Hani Sarhan.

 The Great (alkabeer Awi) season 6:

This series is considered one of the comedy series starring Ahmed Makki, which is a continuous series that has achieved great success and is co-starring Hisham Ismail, Rahma Hassan and Laila Ezz Al Arab, written by Mustafa Saqr and directed by Ahmed El Gendy.

 Sweet Dreams (Ahlam Saida):

The events revolve in a social comedy framework around a group of women united by friendship, and during the events we learn about the personal side of each of them. The series starring Yusra, Ghada Adel, May Kassab, Intisar and Shaima Seif, written by Hala Khalil and directed by Amr Arafa

 A House full of Bounties (Daymn Ammer):

  The events revolve inside a school about the students’ relationship with some teachers. The work also sheds light on the extent of the difference between generations, starring Mustafa Shaaban – Lebleba – Mirna Nour El Din – Amr Abdel Jalil, directed by Magdy El Hawary and written by Michael Adel – Ayman Selim.

U- Turn:

 This series belongs to the type of social drama series, where the events revolve around how a person returns to where he started to correct the wrong path he took before. The series starred Reham Hajjaj – Tawfiq Abdel Hamid – Abeer Sabry – Karim Qassem – Abeer Mounir, directed by Sameh Abdel Aziz, and written by Ayman Salameh.

 The Journey (Al- mishwar)

Its events revolve around the issue of trafficking in antiquities, money laundering and also trade in contraband of all kinds, the series starring Mohamed Ramadan, Dina El Sherbini, Amr Abdel Jalil, Ahmed Magdy, written by Mohamed Farid and directed by Mohamed Yassin.

The returnees (Al-Aaedoon):

Its events revolve around the detection of some conspiracies against the Egyptian state, and the efforts made by its various agencies to confront these conspiracies. The series stars Amir Karara, Mohamed Farraj, Amina Khalil, written by Baher Dowidar, and directed by Ahmed Nader Galal

We are coming back to love (Raj’in Yahwea):

The events of the work revolve around an Egyptian businessman who decides to return to Cairo after suffering huge losses in Europe, but when he returns, he finds his family torn apart and hatred ignites between them because of the inheritance. The series starring Khaled Al-Nabawy – Nour – Hana Shiha – Anushka – Wafa Amer – Ahmed Badir – Islam Ibrahim Directed by Muhammad Osama, and the story of Osama Anwar Okasha – and script and dialogue: Muhammad Suleiman Abdul-Malik.

Secret File (Malaf Serii):

The work events revolve around a judge subjected to harassment, in addition to the killing of his mother in mysterious circumstances, which turns the events upside down. The series starring Hani Salama – Mohsen Mohieldin – Aisha bin Ahmed – Marihan Hussein, written by Mahmoud Hajjaj and directed by Hussein Al-Balassi and will be shown on channels

Ghamam Island (Gezert Ghamam):

The work revolves in a social context around the story of Shafaa’s house and his sons who enter into conflicts and adventures, through brotherly disagreements. The series stars Mai Ezz El Din – Tarek Lotfy – Fathi Abdel Wahab – Ahmed Amin, written by Abdel Rahim Kamal and directed by Hussein El Miniawy.

Written on My Skin (Maktob Alia):

Which revolves around a person who loves a girl who does not care about him, while on the other hand, his cousin is in love with him. The series, starring Akram Hosni – Eten Amer – Hanadi Mhenni – Amr Abdel Galil – Hanan Suleiman, written by Ihab Blibel and directed by Khaled Al-Khalafawi

A robot in our house (Fi Bitena Robot) season 2:

In its second part, the series continues many comic situations that bring together the “Youssef” family and both Robert Zumba and delicious, especially with one of Youssef’s competitors creating a new Robert. The series starred Shaima Seif – Amr Wahba – Laila Ahmed Zaher – Hisham Gamal – Donia Maher, written by Ahmed Mohy and Ahmed Al-Mohammadi, and directed by Walid Al-Halafawi.

Faten Amal Harby:

The events of the work revolve around a woman who enters into a dispute with her husband, which leads to the exacerbation of problems between them. The work discusses the issue of custody and other personal status laws. The series stars Nelly Karim – Sherif Salama – Hala Sedky – Muhammad Al Sharnoubi – Fadia Abdel Ghani and written by Ibrahim Issa. Directed by Mando Al-Adl.


The series revolves around a major law firm that includes a number of successful personalities who seek to achieve their ambitions in this competitive field. The series starred Asr Yassin – Ahmed Daoud – Saba Mubarak – Mohamed Shaheen – Tara Emad – Reem Mustafa, written by Mohamed Hefzy and Yasser Abdel Majid, directed by Essam Abdel Hamid.


The series will be shown in the second half of Ramadan and starring Reem Mustafa – Muhammad Kilani – Tim Mustafa Qamar – Basem Al-Zaro. It is written by Muhammad Jalal and directed by Raouf Abdel Aziz.

Rania and Sakina:

The events of the work revolve in a comic social framework around the character of a girl named Rania from an aristocracy who is forced by circumstances to move to live with a girl from a popular area called Sakina, and thus the comic events begin, especially with the difference between the two characters. The series stars Ruby – Mai Omar – Ahmed Khaled Saleh, written by Mohamed Salah Al-Azab, and directed by Sherine Adel.

The Minstrel (Al Maddah) season 2:

The events in the second part continue what happens after Saber gets involved in many problems, and tries to fix things. The series stars Hamada Hilal – Heba Magdy – Donia Abdel Aziz – Sahar Al Sayegh – Khaled Sarhan – Ahmed Abdel Aziz, written by Amin Jamal and Walid Abu Al Majd, and directed by Ahmed Samir Farag.

Who said that? (Meen Kal):

Its events revolve around the problems faced by young people at the age of 18, through the character of a father, who finds himself facing the changes that have occurred in his son as he enters the stage of youth. The series is starring Jamal Suleiman – Ahmed Dash – Jamal Abdel Nasser – Diana Hisham, directed by Nadine Khan, and authored by a narration workshop led by Maryam Naoum.

Hardly (betlo Alrouh):

The work events revolve within a social framework through an electronic engineer who is forced by circumstances to join an international terrorist group, and from here the events erupt, and the series starring Menna Shalaby – Ilham Shaheen – Ahmed Al-Saadani – Mohamed Hatem – Diamond Abboud – Adel Karam, directed by Kamela Abu Zekry and written by Mohamed Hisham Obayeh.

Repentance (Altoba):

The events of the series revolve within a popular social framework, around a person who makes some mistakes, but decides to repent and retreat from this path, but here are those who are trying to push him to continue in the other way. The series starring Amr Saad – Asmaa Abu Al-Yazid – Sabambark – Majed Al-Masry – Intisar – Diab and directed by Ahmed Saleh

Sons of Abed (Welad Abed):

   The events revolve around a group of conflicts and social and family problems, which take place between members of the same family in an interesting dramatic framework.    The events of the work revolve in a social context, around the principal of an international school, a situation that turns her life upside down. The series stars Laila Elwi – Magdy Kamel – Mai Selim – Firas Saeed – Wafaa Sadiq – Iman El-Sayed – Suleiman Eid – Ahmed Said Abdel-Ghani – Laila Ezz Al-Arab.    Its events revolve in a social context around the character of Pablo, the popular hero, who enters into many conflicts. The series stars Hassan Al-Raddad – Naglaa Badr – Arwa Gouda – Salwa Othman – Hala Fakher, written by Hassan Dahshan and directed by Mohamed Hamaki.

Return of the Prodigal Father (Awdet Al Ab Al Daal):

   The events revolve around a wealthy businessman who owns a large hotel, and falls into a crisis, and in order to get out of it and try to find his 7 children, at the same time more than one woman is trying to marry him to defraud him and seize the hotel. The series stars Bayoumi Fouad – Abeer Sabri – Khaled Mansour – Iman El-Sayed – Amira Hani – Nour Qadri, written by Amin Gamal and Muhammad Abu Al-Saad, and directed by Ahmed Abdel-Al

Great job (Shogl Aali):

   The events revolve around two friends who have a strong friendship with each other and are exposed to many comic situations after they establish a company to help women. The series starring Sherine Reda – Fifi Abdo – Marwan Younes, written by Hussein Mustafa Muharram and directed by Morcos Adel

Dangerous curve (Monhna Khatar):

    The events take place in a framework of suspense and excitement, where the hero of the work is involved in a murder, which leads him to prove his innocence. The series starring Mustafa Qamar – Munther Rayhana – Randa Al-Behairi – Samira Sedky, directed by Wael Fahmy Abdel Hamid and written by Islam Youssef

House of distress ( Bayt Al Sheda ):

     The events of the work revolve inside one of the Egyptian neighborhoods within a social framework, as the work sheds light on a woman with a strong personality who goes through several stages during her life. The series stars Wafa Amer – Maha Ahmed – Ahmed Wafik – Medhat Tikha – Omar Fawzi, written by Naji Abdullah and directed by Wissam Al-Madani.

Borderline ( Al Had Al Fasil):

The work consists of 6 stories, where the number of episodes for each story is only 5, and the series starring the artist Rogina – Samiha Ayoub – Edward – Salah Abdullah. Each story is directed by a different director, most notably Tamer Hamza – Raouf Abdel Aziz.

Snwat Greesh

A Kuwaiti series that revolves around a true story that actually happened in the Arab Gulf states during the 1940’s during the Second World War, starring Hayat Al-Fahd, Heba Al-Hussein, Bashar Al-Shatti, Hamad Al-Omani, Hassan Al-Balam, Ali Al-Saba’, Laila Suleiman.


It is an Emirati series that takes place in the last quarter of the last century and discusses many social issues in that period. The work is starring Saad Al-Faraj, Fatima Al-Hosani, Amira Muhammad, Habib Ghuloom, Suad Ali, Haifa Hussein, written by Ismail Abdullah and directed by Ahmed Yaqoub Al-Mulla.

Skyscraper (Natehat Sahaab):

It is a Kuwaiti series that revolves around a social theme, starring Kuwaiti actress Suad Abdullah, Fakhriya Khamis, Yaqoub Abdullah, Fahd Abdul Mohsen, Shaima Ali, Hussein Al Mahdi and directed by Issa Diab.


As for Syrian series:


Aziza Choir ( Goket Aziza):

The events revolve around the era of the French Mandate in Syria, specifically about the life of the Syrian dancer (Aziza), who falls in love with a French colonel. The series stars Salloum Haddad, Nisreen Tafesh, Ayman Reda.

Still in Love (Ala Kayed El hob):

The series tells the story of two people whose friendship spans more than 4 decades, and this friendship is facing a great test because of their children and the past. The series is written by Fadi Qoshkji, directed by Bassem Al-Salka, and starring Salloum Haddad, Duraid Lahtam, Osama Al Romani.

Breaking bones (Kasr Adham):

The series discusses contemporary events in Syria, and how the conflict emerged during the time of war between (the owners of power and money, the children of the middle class, and the poor). The series is directed by Rasha Sharbatji, written by Ali Moeen Al-Saleh, and starring Karis Bashar, Mahmoud Nasr, Nadine.

Suspended (Ma Ekaf El Tanfeez):

A social and human series, which falls within the psychological worlds of its heroes who have been exhausted by successive conflicts and crises in the region, and reveals the influence of the surrounding factors on them, in several respects. The series is starring a group of the most prominent stars of acting in Syria, including Ghassan Masoud, Shukran Murtaji, and Sulaf Fawakherji, written by Yamen Al-Hajali, and directed by Saif Al-Subaie.

Give me back my heart (Rod Kalbi):

The Syrian series (Red My Heart), starring Joan Khader, Rowad Alyo, Jenny Esber, written by Fahd Merhi, and directed by Ammar Tamim. The events of the series revolve in an atmosphere of excitement and mystery, as it begins with a murder, which occurs at a wedding, in which the threads are intertwined, and the search for the killer becomes a difficult task.

The Qubba Street (Harat El Koba) season 2:

The series “Haret Al-Qubba” is the second part, written by Osama Kokash, directed by Rasha Sharbatji, and produced by Iaj Company, and co-starring Abbas Al-Nouri, Sulafa Mimar and Khaled Al-Qish.

Al-Kandoush season 2:

The series “Al-Kandoush 2” is co-starring Sulaf Fawakherji, Sabah Al-Jazaery, and Ayman Zidan, and it was written by Hossam Tahsin Bey and directed by Samir Hussein. The first part of the work sparked great controversy, which prompted its makers to promote the second part, and confirm that it will be better than the first in terms of performance and level of events.


As for Jordanian series:


Gold of September (Zahab Aylol):

The series tells the story of a person dealing with the lives of refugee women because of the war in their country and the exploitation they are subjected to. The series stars Marah Jabr, Ammar Shallak, Akef Najm, Shukran Murtaja, Dana Jabr, Sari al-Assad, written by Muhammad Erekat and directed by Hamad Al-Zoubi.

Attendance for the absence procession ) Hodoor Le Mawkeb Al Gheyab(

It is the first part of a historical trilogy that talks about Palestine in the last thirties, and the impact of the Palestinian cause on the neighboring countries, especially Jordan, Syria and Egypt in the post-foreign guardianship period. The series was written by Muhammad Mushta, co-written and produced by Saif Abdel Aziz, directed by Saif Al-Samadi, and starring: Dima Bayaa, Munther Rihana, Reem Ali, Rasha Bilal, Mazen Al-Natour, Ahmed Fahmy and Jihad Abdo.

Keeping distance from love (Ala Boad Massafa Min Al Hob):

Jordanian producer Issam Hijjawi, in turn, finished filming three series for the upcoming drama season, the first of which is “A Distance from Love,” the story and script of Suleiman Abu Sharp, directed by Hossam Hijjawi, and starring a group of artists from Jordan, Palestine, Saudi Arabia and Iraq; Among them are Shaker Jaber, Mustafa Abu Hanoud, and the Saudi Turki Al-Kraidis.
