Ambassador of Egypt to Moscow Nazih Al-Najari met with Russian First Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Vasily Usmakov on Wednesday, in which they discussed aspects of economic cooperation between the two countries in various fields, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Al-Najari stated that the meeting discussed developments related to the implementation of projects in the Russian industrial zone, the Dabaa nuclear plant, and the manufacture and supply of 1,300 train cars.

The meeting also discussed opportunities for Egyptian-Russian cooperation in various economic sectors, especially trade, pharmaceutical industries, automobile manufacturing, maritime and air transport, as well as the ongoing preparations for Egypt’s participation as a guest country in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which Russia will host next June.

The Egyptian ambassador added that the two sides praised during the meeting the distinguished level of economic cooperation relations between Egypt and Russia, which is a reflection of the strategic relations linking the two countries.

He referred to the agreement to continue joint coordination to increase the volume of trade and investments, in the interest of the two countries.

On 25 December 2021, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin agreed on intensifying joint efforts and coordination between Egypt and Russia.

During the conversation, Al-Sisi stressed Egypt’s aspiration to deepen bilateral cooperation with Russia at all levels. This comes as an extension of the vital projects that are implemented in Egypt through the cooperation between the two countries, on top of which is the Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant and the Russian Industrial Zone in the Suez Canal axis.

These projects should consolidate the comprehensive strategic partnership between the Egyptian and Russian sides and deepen the friendship and bilateral cooperation links between the peoples of the two countries, Al-Sisi added.

For his part, Putin underscored the importance Russia attaches to developing the bilateral relations with Egypt during the coming period within the framework of strategic partnership and cooperation agreement between the two countries.
