Egypt launches its first National Science Olympiad

Minister of Education and Technical Education Tarek Shawky has announced launching the first National Science Olympiad in Egypt and Africa.

The Olympiad aims to support and develop students in a scientific field through a plan implemented by university professors, providing consultants and mentors for all subjects and activities.

Shawky has also approved a plan to develop the work of the services and activities sector in the ministry within the framework of sustainable development strategy and Egypt’s Vision 2030.

The plan approved by the Minister aims to build an integrated personality to build an enlightened, creative, proud and responsible citizen.

The Olympiad will be launched in various governorates of Egypt, including village schools in order to develop students’ love of exploration, adventure, research, knowledge and curiosity, enabling them to acquire decision-making skills, solving problems, developing their spiritual and moral values.

It also aims to provide the opportunity for students to express themselves freely and unleash their vital energies, developing the spirit of loyalty and belonging to the homeland, and invest free time in purposeful and constructive educational activities.

The Olympiad will contribute in developing a modern methodology to develop educational extra-curricular activities which enhance scientific, cultural, physical, literary, artistic, theatrical, musical and entrepreneurship skills for students.
