Egypt’s PM Madbouly follows up on progress of ICT projects in New Administrative Capital

Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly held a cabinet meeting, on Thursday, to follow up on the executive position of several information and communications technology (ICT)sector projects in the New Administrative Capital. 

The Prime Minister stressed the government’s interest in digital transformation projects in the New Capital, as it is one of the mechanisms for developing government work and upgrading its methods. 

During the meeting, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, presented a report on the arrangements for the transfer of ministries and government agencies to the New Administrative Capital. 

He asserted that work is underway to simulate the transfer of applications from several government agencies and the migration of data to apply authentication, and a plan is being prepared for the migration of data and final tests at the unified data center.

Regarding the position of participatory applications, Talaatconfirmed that his ministry has completed the operation and testing of the digital archive applications, correspondence, and work sessions, on the temporary computing environment. 

With regard to the application of financials such as wages and incentives, Talaat explained that there is coordination with the Ministry of Finance and the Information Systems Department of the Armed Forces to develop mechanisms for integration between the wages and salaries system with the human resources system through a unified database.

The Minister of Communications and Information Technology also addressed the position of digitizing government documents, stressing that the digitization of 80 million papers has been completed in all phases of the project, out of a total of 300 million papers, noting the training of 1,400 civil servants who will be responsible for managing the digital transformation units has been completed.
