Kuwait has called for an extraordinary session of the Arab Commission for Human Rights (ACHR), on protecting human rights in Jerusalem and the occupied Palestinian territories.

The meeting will be held virtually on Wednesday, and will discuss the grave human rights violations that Israel has committed against the Palestinian people. It will also look at Israel’s failure to fulfil its international obligations to protect civilians.

Talal Al-Mutairi, Kuwait’s Assistant Foreign Minister for Human Rights, said that the discriminatory policies pursued by the Israeli occupation force includes the oppression and forced displacement of Palestinians. These actions constitute a flagrant violation and perpetuation of apartheid.

He called on the international community and the relevant United Nations (UN) agencies to assume their responsibility to protect the Palestinian people.
