Swedish home furnishing brand IKEA has, in cooperation with Al-Futtaim Group company Marakez, launched its second store in Egypt at Mall of Arabia.

The new branch is located on an area of 19,500 sqm inside the Mall of Arabia in Sixth of October City, and is expected to receive more than 3 million visitors in 2021.

The new branch’s opening was attended by: Al-Futtaim Group Vice Chairperson Omar Al-Futtaim; Per-Axel Frielingsdorf, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Sweden in Cairo; Basil Ramzy, CEO at MARAKEZ; and Vinod Jayan, Regional General Manager at IKEA for the UAE, Egypt and Oman.

Jon Abrahamsson Ring, CEO at Inter IKEA Group, and Konrad Grüss, Managing Director of Inter IKEA System, also participated in the opening through Hologram Technology.

Ring said that the opening of the branch comes as part of IKEA’s keenness to reach its customers everywhere. The store targets residents of West Cairo and its surrounding areas, such as Sheikh Zayed, Dokki, Mohandessin, Zamalek, Haram, Giza and others.

It looks to achieve a better daily life for the largest possible number of IKEA customers, especially since the store contributes to making a positive impact on the lives of nearly five million residents.

Jayan said, “The new branch will bring us closer to our customers in West Cairo, and we will also be able to transfer the integrated shopping experience to them.”

He added that the new store provides digital solutions for its storage systems, which guide customers by displaying information about the available range of products and the desired designs, thus enriching their shopping experience.

The store halls display more than 7,500 products ready for immediate purchase, and includes more than 1,600 products at new low prices, along with 1,400 new products to suit all tastes.
