Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhy has confirmed that Egypt’s hosting of the 2021 International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup Shotgun adds to the country’s success in holding sports tournaments despite challenges resulting from the ongoing health crisis.
The tournament started on 22 February and will last until 5 March. In a statement, Sobhy said that hosting the tournament is a positive step on the back of the success of the World Handball Championship, which Egypt hosted in January.
The minister added that Egypt will host in the coming period more international tournaments, including fencing and cycling, stressing that everyone is joining forces to make the championships successful.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports is coordinating with the Ministry of Health and Population regarding the medical side of the tournament. They will collectively apply all precautionary measures and medical protocol, to ensure the safety of all those attending and participating.
A total of 32 countries are participating in the World Cup Shotgun, namely: Argentina, Armenia, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Spain, Greece, India, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Libya, Lebanon, Luxembourg, Morocco, Norway, Peru, Poland, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, Sudan, Slovakia, Syria, the UAE, Ukraine, and Egypt.
