CIB Sustainability Reporting Award recipients attend GRI Certified Training Workshop

The Commercial International Bank (CIB), Egypt’s leading private sector bank, has celebrated its fifth year of GRI Sustainability Reporting, by launching a Sustainability Reporting Award targeting the country’s corporate sector.

CIB awarded 20 participants from the 10th Egypt CSR and Sustainability Forum with a Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Certified Training, held over a two-day virtual workshop from 16-17 December 2020.

“Since 2015, we have been committed to Sustainability Reporting,” said Mohamed Sultan, CIB’s Chief Operating Officer, “CIB’s Sustainability Reporting Award celebrates our fifth anniversary in sustainability reporting and our continuous efforts in achieving the national and global agendas for sustainable development.”

He noted that the bank’s reporting activities have reflected best global standards and practices, and have constantly contributed to setting industry benchmarks.

“As CIB celebrates the fifth anniversary of issuing sustainability reports according to the GRI Standards, the bank acknowledges its responsibility towards advancing the concept of Sustainability Reporting and raising awareness on its importance among Egypt’s economic sectors,” said Dalia Abdel Kader, CIB’s Chief Sustainability Officer, “Accordingly, we launched the CIB Sustainability Reporting Award, which reflects our desire to share our experience and learning curves with leading corporates in Egypt that understand the strategic role of sustainability reporting.”

During Egypt’s 10th CSR and Sustainability Forum, held in November 2020, 47 event participants applied for the Sustainability Reporting Award. CIB selected a total of 20 companies, NGOs and educational institutions to receive the award.

The GRI Standards Certified Training Program and Sustainability Reporting provides the fundamental principles and methodological framework of GRI Sustainability Reporting Standards. It addresses all types of organisations, both public and private sector, and across all levels within the organisations.
