Ahmed Manna appointed Secretary-General of Egyptian parliament

Egypt’s House of Representatives approved the appointment of Counsellor Ahmed Ezzat Manna, as its new Secretary-General during a procedural session on Thursday.

Earlier on Tuesday, the House of Representatives’ Bureau accepted the resignation of Mahmoud Fawzy from his post as Secretary-General, and thanked him for his efforts in organising the House’s first procedural session.

Also during the procedural session on Tuesday, 71-year-old Hanafi Jabali was elected as the House Speaker by the majority of MPs. Mohamed Aboul-Enein and Ahmed Saad El-Din were also elected as deputies to the Speaker.

Parliament’s new Secretary-General Ahmed Manna was the Vice President of the State Council, and worked for a period of 3 years as a member of the Legislation Department of the State Council.

The Thursday session also witnessed the election of heads and deputies of each special parliamentary committee. The Parliament’s 25 special committees have been formed on Wednesday. Each parliament member should join two committees.
