Ahmed Youssef, Chairperson of the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Board (ETPB), held two separate video conference meetings with the marketing team of TUI Group and representatives of the English company easyJet to explore ways to recover the inbound tourism in the country.

The meetings discuss a plan for the gradual return of tourism movement through effective promotional tools, including a programme for joint campaigns, especially digital campaigns, and organizing informational trips for journalists, media professionals, bloggers, and other promotion mechanisms of tourism destinations.

Youssef also reviewed the precautionary measures taken by the Egyptian government to confront the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, noting that discovering effective vaccines would contribute to the global tourism recovery.

Maged Abu Sidira, head of the International Tourism Sector at the ETPB, also attended the meetings.

Last Friday, Egypt received the first tranche of the Chinese coronavirus vaccine. The Ministry of Health said it also reserved huge amounts of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine. These developments are expected to have a positive impact on tourism.

Notably, the ETPB intends to launch a number of promotional campaigns in cooperation with major international tour operators in western European countries, especially Germany, England, Benelux, and Scandinavian countries during the coming period.
