A total of 10 Syrian soldiers and pro-government fighters were killed by fresh Israeli strikes on military sites in the capital of Syria Damascus before daybreak Wednesday, a war monitor reported.

The Israeli strikes targeted an air defense position of the Syrian army as well as depots of the pro-Iran fighters and the Lebanese Hezbollah group in the southern and southwestern Damascus, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
The Britain-based watchdog group said the death toll includes three Syrian soldiers and five Iranian fighters as well as two fighters believed to be Iraqis or Lebanese.

Meanwhile, the state news agency SANA only reported the killing of three Syrian soldiers in the Israeli strikes. It said the Syrian air defenses intercepted a number of Israeli missiles.

Throughout the Syrian crisis, Israel has carried out hundreds of airstrikes against Iranian targets in Syria, as well as convoys transporting weapons to Hezbollah, a Lebanese militia allegedly backed by Iran.
