The National Postal Authority has issued a circular to its employees, containing several precautionary measures in preparation for a possible second wave of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

According to the statement issued on Thursday, the authority’s circular No 481 stresses the need to adhere to the precautionary measures, to attempt to avoid further spread.

The authority stressed that its employees should undertake five precautionary measures.

The authority’s procedures were as follows:

1- Maintain a safe distance between yourself and others.

2- Maintain good ventilation in workplace and reduce crowding.

3- Preventive supplies are provided inside headquarters, including disinfectants, and masks. Hands must be washed and sterilised frequently.

4- Both employees and clients must wear their face masks inside the workplace.

5- Use of the electronic fingerprint system is suspended.

Egypt Post has, since last March, implemented several measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, mainly targeting distribution outlets and offices. The most prominent measures of these were to sterilise offices daily, wear medical gloves and face masks, and wash hands frequently.

On Friday, Egypt recorded 224 new confirmed coronavirus cases, and 14 new fatalities, according to the country’s Ministry of Health.

The figures bring the total numbers of confirmed cases in Egypt, as of Friday, to 108,754 and 6,343 fatalities, including 100,106 cases that have been cured.
