Egyptian companies producing and importing drugs and medical apparatus are to supply their contacted stocks with the Ministry of Health and affiliated entities and university hospitals, to the Egyptian authority for the unified procurement of medical supply and technology for three months upon a decree by Ministry of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea.

The products covered by the decree include protective suits, latex gloves, surgical and N95 masks, protective glasses.

The decree added that legal action may be taken against factories and companies who fail to supply the contracted protective items mentioned in the decree.

The decision excludes supplies for the Egyptian Armed Forces and police.

The minister noted that the unified procurement authority will distribute these medical supplies to all government and university hospitals, and will ensure that hospital needs are met, especially in light of increasing demands.

The Authority Head Bahaa El-Din Zaidan said there is a permanent committee working throughout the day at the authority’s headquarters to receive medical products from companies. All products are examined at warehouses before their distribution to hospitals.
