About 200 international brands from more than 32 countries will take part in the fifth edition of Cairo WoodShow exhibition.

Director of the exhibition, Hussein Kamal, said, “During the exhibition, we aim to support and develop Egyptian furniture industry and wood products to achieve the maximum benefit and keep pace with the evolution of the world.”

The WoodShow exhibition is a platform for professional wood investors to network, giving room for expert consultations and business opportunities.

Kamal stressed that total exports of Egypt’s furniture sector is estimated at EGP 30bn, and accommodates 400,000 direct workers and nearly 600,000 indirect workers, adding that the number of establishments working in the sector is close to 120,000, of which 95% are small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Wood and furniture products in Egypt are exported to a large number of Gulf countries, Europe, and the United States, he elaborated.

For his part, Ahmed Helmy, head of Wood Working and Furniture Chamber at the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI), noted that the Cairo WoodShow is a qualitative leap in the furniture and wood products industry, helping manufacturers increase the local component in local industries.

According to Helmy, the exhibition provides an opportunity to showcase all kinds of materials and modern technology that exists in the world, providing means of support for workers in the sector in Egypt in one place since many can’t travel to witness the development of the field.

The fifth edition of the Cairo WoodShow will be held from the fifth to the eighth of December under the auspices of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Industrial Modernisation Centre (IMC), Egyptian Furniture Export Council, Wood Working and Furniture Chamber at the Federation of Egyptian Industries, General Organisation for Import and Export Control (GOEIC), with the participation of specialists and experts in the wood sector.
