First Edition of ZED Club’s Cup opening ceremony kicks off

The first edition of the ZED Club’s Cup football tournament has kicked off on Sunday, at the newly launched ZED Park, under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The tournament brought to life by Naguib Sawiris’ Ora Developers, is set to witness intense competition between the U13 teams of some of the world’s biggest football clubs, who have gathered in Egypt for the first time in history.

This is the first tournament of its kind to take place in Egypt and is organised by Z Bling Effect.

The inauguration of the ZED Club’s Cup was attended by iconic Egyptian football players including Ahmed Belal, Mohamed Shawky, Walid Salah El-Din and Emad Meteb, as well as, Mohamed El Garhi, Board Member of Al Ahly club and Mohamed El-Shawrkawy, Board Member of the Shooting Club.

Additionally, TV host Seif Zaher hosted the draw event and has been revealed as a member of the technical committee in addition to prominent sports figures Hazem Emam and Ahmed Hossam Mido.

CEO of Ora Developers Haitham Mohamed commented, “We’re very excited to be bringing some of the best football clubs in the world to compete in Egypt for the first time, especially when we’re focusing on the youth who have so much talent to offer.”

He said that this is a historical moment in Egypt, expressing their delight to be kicking off the first edition of the tournament at the company’s new ZED Park, giving the public a chance to discover what they are offering, including the fully equipped sports complex, adding that “this is only the beginning, and we’re looking forward to many more events at ZED Park.”

The opening match took place right after the ceremony at ZED’s fully equipped new sports complex.

A total of 12 teams will compete throughout the championship which will last five days, and conclude on Friday, 30 August. The matches will be held on ZED’s world-class FIFA-accredited football GrassMaster pitch. Furthermore, all locations and routes have been secured under the supervision of the Ministry of Tourism.
