Egypt’s foreign ministry has expressed its concerns over the recent escalation in the occupied Palestinian territories, renewing its support for the Palestinian cause.

In a statement released on Sunday, the ministry denounced the invasions which the Israeli forces carried out in the West Bank, referring to the possible consequences of this escalation regarding the security situation in the Palestinian territories.

Egypt called on the concerned parties to avoid any practices leading to further escalation and deterioration of the situation, as well as to reach and determine a peaceful solution.

The statement added that Egypt is intensifying its efforts to stop the escalation and settle the situation, as part of its regional role to maintain peace and stability in the region.

Earlier on Friday, the Israeli forces used live fire against the Palestinian protesters, killing an 18-year-old Palestinian named Mahmoud Rabah Nakhleh, and injuring others, according to the Palestinian ministry of health. Protests came after the Israeli forces carried out new raids overnight on Friday in Ramallah.

The Israeli forces said that it arrested dozens of Palestinian protesters, adding that two of its soldiers were killed at a bus stop in the occupied West Bank.

Since the Palestinian people started demonstrating at the end of March of this year, dozens were killed including women and children. Thousands of Palestinians continue to protest, demanding the right of return, lifting the blockade imposed by Israel after Hamas seized power of Gaza in 2007, and opposing the relocation of the US embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. For the Palestinian people, Jerusalem is a holy city and the capital of their future independent state.
