The Indian embassy in Egypt said that 200 slots are available every year for Egyptian nationals to undertake training in 54 Institutes affiliated with India, offering courses in 280 disciplines under the auspices of the Indian Technical & Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programme, according to a Wednesday statement issued by the embassy.

The ITEC training programmes include fields such as IT, public administration, auditing, elections, small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), entrepreneurship, rural development, parliamentary affairs, renewable energy, English language, banking, skill development and employment generation, the embassy said.

The statement mentioned that nearly 1,000 Egyptians have visited India to participate in various training programmes in the last few years.

In another context, the 54th anniversary of the ITEC programme will be celebrated at the Embassy of India, on 30 October, noted the statement, adding that Egyptian trainees will also participate in the event to share their experiences.

Special training in fields like security, defence and counterinsurgency, will be offered for defence personnel by prestigious institutes in India, such as the National Defence College and the Defence Service Staff College.

The ITEC Day serves as a platform to “bring together Egyptian friends, and to rekindle their warm experiences in India, to cherish their memories of visiting India, as well as to further strengthen the close bonds of friendship between the peoples of India and Egypt,” the statement read.
