Google revealed its annual Year in Search report for 2017, highlighting the terms Egyptians searched for most over the year.

Google Head of Public Relations & Communications for the Middle East and North Africa Joyce Baz said that over 1 billion people use Google search everyday to learn, explore, and find answers.

Year in Search shows the figures, events, topics, and places that gained the most attention around the world.

The results include the most popular searches of people, events, sports stars, shows, songs, and food in Egypt. Data was collected from trillions of searches and questions on Google this year.

As was the case last year, school examinations were among the most searched topics.

Moreover, 2017 was also an important year for Egyptian football, with questions about sports topping the events and overall search lists of the year.

The list also included four sports figures who came within the top ten searches for people, led by the new president of Al Ahly SC, Mahmoud El-Khatib.

Local events, such as the Wahat attack, dominated the list of events, and Hurricane Irma was the only international event on the list.

The most searched songs included El-Kif by Cairokee and Tarek El-Sheikh, followed by Despacito.

In general, according to Google, Mahmoud El-Khatib topped the figures searched in Egypt in 2017.

Former Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq came second, then Lebanese singer Elissa third.

Actress Gamela Awad came fourth on that list.

The list also included a number of other public figures such as television presenter Wafaa El Kilani, former president of Al Ahly SC Mahmoud Taher, international football player Essam Al Hadari, and Liverpool FC winger Mohamed Salah.
